Surah Taha (Revealed in Macca)  No. 20  135 verses in 8 sections

Surat Taha was revealed in Makkah and has 135 verses.Surat Taha is the first Surah of the Qur’an which has explained the Story of Moses (as) in details, and about 80 verses of it have been stated in this regard.

A part of the Surah is upon the greatness of the Qur’an and the attributes of Allah, while another part of it relates to the story of Adam and Eve and the temptations of Satan. And, finally, there have been stated some awakening advices in this holy Surah. Sura 20 displays several thematic and stylistic patterns described by Angelika Neuwirth in Jane McAuliffe’s book “The Cambridge Companion to the Qur’an.”These include the eschatological prophecies of the Qur’an, signs of God’s existence, and debate. Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, A thousand years before creating the heavens and the Earth, Allah recited Ta-Ha and Ya-Sin, and when the angels heard the recitation they said, ‘Happy are the people to whom this comes down, happy are the minds which carry this, and happy are the tongues which utter this. [Darami transmitted it, at-Tirmidhi]

Abu Umamah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, “The greatest name of Allah, which if He is called by it, He responds, is in three surahs: Al-Baqarah, ‘al ‘Imran and Ta-Ha.” Hisham ibn Ammar, the khateeb of Damascus, said:

“In Al-Baqarah, it is ‘Allah! There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exist’ [Al-Baraqah, 2: 255]. In ‘al ‘Imran it is ‘Alif. Laam. Meem. Allah! There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists’ [‘al ‘Imran, 3: 1-2].
