Virtues of Surah Ghafir Benefits, Chapter 40

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Surah al-Ghafir or Surah al-Mu’min  (The Forgiver/The Believer)  Section (juz’ 24) Number of Verses: 85

Surah Ghafir is a ‘makki’ Sura and it has 85 ayaat. Sūrat Ghāfir, also known as Sūrat al-Muʼmin, is the 40th sura of the Qu’ran.The title Ghafir derives from the third Verse in which God Almighty is mentioned as the Oft-Forgiver of sin (Ghafir al-dhanb). The other title of the Chapter is Mu’min alluding to the person who was at the service of Pharaoh and concealed his faith so as to render support to Moses. 

The account of the person in question, known as the believer among Pharaoh’s people (mu’min al Fir’awn) may be found in Verses 28 ff. besides the accounts of Moses, Noah, ‘Ad, and Thamud, the Chapter treats of Divine Unity, Resurrection, and Divine Wisdom.

There are approximately twenty Verses concerning the believer among Pharaoh’s people which are not attested elsewhere in the Holy Qur’an. There are seven consecutive Qur’anic Verses opening with Ha Mim; the Chapter in question is the first one in the series termed as Hawamim and the rest are: Fussilat, Shura, Zukhruf, Dukhan, Jathiya, and Ahqaf.

According to a Prophetic tradition Hawamim constitute the gist of the Holy Qur’an. The series is the crown of the Holy Qur’an and its fragrant flowers. God bestows His Bounties upon the reciter of these Verses as well as his neighbors, relatives, and friends and Divine Throne ask for his forgiveness.

Hadith on Surah Quraish :

Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said Chapters beginning with Ha-Meem* are beautiful, fresh, fragrant, splendid meadows. Whosoever desires to walk around in the meadows of Paradise should recite these surahs.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Ha Mim Al-Mu’min – up to – To Him is the return (40:1-3) and Ayat Al-Kursi when he reaches (gets up in) the morning, he will be protected by them until the evening. And whoever recites them when he reaches the evening, he will be protected by them until the morning.”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi Vol. 5, Book 42, Hadith 2879

Narrated from the Prophet ,Whosoever recites Surah Ad-Dukhan all of it, and the beginning of Ha Mim Al-Mu’min (Surah Ghafir) till the verse Ilayhil Maseer (40:3) and Aayat Al-Kursi (2:255) in the evening he is protected till he rises in the morning and whoever recites them in the morning he is protected until evening.

Surah Ghafir Benefits are many few are given below

1. If a believer recites Surah Ghafir every night, Allah would forgive his past and future sins, grant him purity of heart and in the hereafter would give more rewards than he has given in this world.
2. If Surah Ghafir taweez is put on the wall of an orchard there would be an abundant growth in the yield; likewise if hanged in the shop or any business site the sale would increase in leaps and bounds.
3. Surah Ghafir Benefits,taweez is worn by a person who is suffering from big or small boils, swollen testicles, or trembling, inshallah, he would be cured.
4. To cure heart trouble, pain in the liver or spleen, write this surah on a china plate, wash with clean water, knead fine flour with it, dry it like biscuit, grind it and give it to the patient to eat it.
