Surah Al Araf is the 7th surah of the Quran, with 206 verses. It is a Meccan surat. Its final verse, Ayat No.206, requires a sajdah. It has been narrated from Hazrat Qattadah radi Allahu anhu and Hazrat Dahhak radi Allahu anhu said this Surat is a Meccan one, except verses 163-165 which were revealed in Medina.

Surat al-A’araaf has the ayat al-muhkamaat that will give witness on behalf of its reciter on the Day of Reckoning. Our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) has said that there will be a veil between the reciter of this Suraah and Iblees on Judgement day and the reciter will be in the company of Prophet Adam (a.s.)

Zaid b. Thabit asked me: Why do you recite short surahs in the sunset prayer? I saw the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) reciting two long surahs at the sunset prayers. I asked him: which are those two long surahs? He replied: Al-A’raf(surat vii) and al-an’am(surat vi). I ( the narrator Ibn Juraij) asked Ibn Mulaikah (about these surahs): He said on his own accord: Al-Ma’idah (surat v.) and Al-A’raf (surat vii.) Sunan Abi Dawud 812

1) If you write Surat Araf and wear, then the wearer will be  safe from enemies and wild animals. If you writes this surah with rose water and saffron on paper and hangs it around his neck, so long it remains there, no carnivorous animal would touch him.

2) Recitation of Surat Araf once in a month, will not fear on Day of Judgement Qiyamah. Whoso recites this surat every month would be on the day of judgement, among those about whom verse 35 of this surah says:“No fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve.”

3) Those who recite Surah Al Araf often will set a Veil/curtain between shaitan and reciter.

4) If this surah is recited on Friday, the reciter would not be examined on the day of reckoning. This surah would be a witness for the reciter on the day of judgement. On the day of judgement Allah would hang a curtain between the reciter of this surah and Shaytan, and he would be treated as the companions of prophet Adam.
